Identifying Your Glow-worm Error

When your Glow-worm boiler displays an error code, it's alerting you to a problem that needs attention. Use our guide to identify what the code means.

Tip: Glow-worm codes typically start with 'F' followed by numbers (e.g., F.22, F.28, F.75), similar to Vaillant codes.

Note: Glow Worm is part of the Vaillant Group, so many error codes are similar or identical to Vaillant boilers. The F-codes listed below apply to most modern Glow Worm models.

Jump to Error Code:

Pressure & Water Faults

CodeMeaningQuick FixDIY?
F1Ignition/gas supply fault or low pressureCheck gas supply is on, check pressure gauge, thaw frozen condensate in winterPartial
F22Low water pressure - below safe operating levelTop up pressure using filling loop to 1.0-1.5 bar, reset boilerYes
F75Pump/pressure sensor fault - no pressure rise detected when pump startsCheck system pressure, reset boilerNo
F24Temperature rising too quickly - circulation issueCheck radiators are on, bleed airlocksPartial
F23Temperature differential too highCheck circulation, bleed systemPartial
F72Flow/return temperature discrepancyCheck system circulation, bleed radiatorsPartial

Ignition & Flame Faults

CodeMeaningQuick FixDIY?
F28Ignition lockout - boiler failed to ignite after multiple attemptsCheck gas supply is on, thaw frozen condensate pipe in winter, reset boilerPartial
F29Flame lost during operationCheck gas supply, thaw condensate pipe if frozen, reset boilerPartial
F27Flame sensing fault - flame detected when shouldn't beDo NOT reset repeatedly - call Gas Safe engineer immediatelyNo
F32Fan speed faultReset boiler, check flue is clearNo
F33Air pressure switch faultReset boiler, check flue terminalNo
F61Gas valve control faultReset boiler - do not repeatedly resetNo
F62Gas valve shutoff delay faultReset boilerNo

Temperature & Sensor Faults

CodeMeaningQuick FixDIY?
F5Overheat protection activated - boiler too hotLet boiler cool, bleed radiators, check pump operationPartial
F2Fan/air pressure switch faultReset boiler, check flue is clear externallyNo
F83Flow/return temperature sensor faultReset boilerNo
F10Flow temperature sensor short circuitReset boilerNo
F11Return temperature sensor short circuitReset boilerNo
F12Flow temperature sensor open circuitReset boilerNo
F13Return temperature sensor open circuitReset boilerNo
F20Overheat protection - safety cutoutLet boiler cool, check circulationPartial
F25Flue temperature safety cutoutLet boiler cool, check flue is clearNo

Electronic & PCB Faults

CodeMeaningQuick FixDIY?
F63EEPROM fault - internal memory errorReset boilerNo
F64Electronics/sensor faultReset boilerNo
F65Electronics temperature fault - PCB overheatingLet boiler cool, ensure ventilationNo
F70Invalid display replacementN/A - requires correct displayNo
F71Flow temperature sensor faultReset boilerNo

How to Reset a Glow Worm Boiler

The reset method varies by model:

Energy / Ultimate Range

  1. Press the reset button (flame symbol)
  2. Hold for 3-5 seconds
  3. Wait for boiler to restart

Betacom / Easicom

  1. Turn CH knob to reset position
  2. Hold for 3 seconds
  3. Turn back to desired temperature

Warning: If the fault returns immediately after resetting, do NOT keep resetting. This can damage components. Call a Gas Safe engineer.
